Welcome to Clowne and District Motor Club’s 2017 Clun Run which is to be held this year on Sunday 2nd July.
The Clun Run, named after our home village’s Anglo Saxon name, is a Touring Assembly for classic and interesting 4 wheeled motor vehicles. The Run will take place this year on the varied but not overly demanding roads of the surrounding area.
Starting at 9:00am from the Clowne Community Centre, just off the A616 North Road in the centre of the village (Map ref 120, 491758), the 100 mile route of the Run this year will once again head out through the villages and hamlets of the area, including a half way stop at a destination of interest, more details will be published when arrangements have been confirmed. On return to the start venue in the early afternoon, the vehicles will be placed on static display along with other motor sport and motoring exhibits, and participants will, as last year, be treated to a buffet meal.
The route will once again be defined by a professionally produced road book of simple descriptive directions so that no one’s navigational skills should be put to too much of a test. If you are new to this type of activity, do not let the navigation put you off as club members will be about at the start of the event to give you help and guidance, and the changes to our on event administration will mean that we are able to get you back on track if you do lose your way.
After your arrival with a complimentary bacon butty and coffee/tea, you will be  heading via the north of Chesterfield into the Peak District around Matlock and Youlgreave before heading south for a halfway halt at Carsington Water after about 60 miles. At Carsington there is plenty to see and do and the facilities are first class. On leaving Carsington we will travel further south to Keddleston before turning north return to Clowne and a well deserved lunch. Total mileage is some 105 miles, on some very interesting and enjoyable roads through surprisingly varied countryside. Most of the route uses roads not so far visited on the ClunRun.
Entries remain open until the middle of June, but don’t leave it too late as there is a maximum of 60 entries and places are filling up. The links to the regulations and entry form are in the downloads section on the right of the page.
